Hydrophobic+Oleophobic Ultra-thin Conformal Coating


Drywired® 101X is an ultra-thin conformal coating solution ideal for protecting electronics from moisture and corrosion. The PFOS/PFOA-free fluoropolymer liquid chemistry relies on a proprietary C6 fluorocarbon to provide hydrophobic and oleophobic properties to electronic substrates.

The solution is easily applied by dip, spray, spin, flow, or syringe coat, and suspended in a non-toxic, non-flammable, hydrofluoroether solvent that is compatible with a variety of materials. Minimal to no masking is required depending on assembly configuration. 101X dries in seconds to a thin, transparent film with excellent anti-wetting properties against liquids including water, oil, and a variety of chemicals such as heptane, toluene and acetone. 101X is an excellent product for electronic manufacturers, assemblers, and contract coating facilities.

What is the length of the carbon chain in the 101X formulation?


What is the highest temperature that coating performs at?

The coating can be used continuously at temperatures of 150°C and for about an hour at 250°C. The coating begins to decompose between 250°C -300°C.

Is there a polymerization process during curing?


Is the film flexible? Does the film flexibility change over time?

The film is flexible and this property does not change over time.

Is the use of the UV additive possible at all film thicknesses?

Yes, it is added to the ready-to-use solution and will remain visible in the film.

What wavelength is necessary to make the UV additive fluoresce?

Excitation: 373 nm; Emission: 460nm

Is the coating gas permeable?

The coating is breathable, and therefore gas permeable.

Why is the film capable of being soldered through?

A soldering tip usually is between 600 and 800°C, which causes the film to transition to the gas phase and evaporate.


Do you have a thermal expansion value for the coating?

No, the coating is too thin.

Is the coating IPX certified?

The IPX scale rates water ingression into a device. Our coating can help your device achieve a level of IPX by preventing your phone from water damage. Our coating does not prevent water ingress into a device like a traditional case with mechanical seals, but instead prevents the electronics from failing when exposed to water.


Is the coating UV stable?


What material can contaminate the coating fluid?

Fluids, greases, creams, waxes, paints, glues, flux, etc. will dissolve due to the solvent, but will not affect the polymer as it is inert. These materials can be filtered and remove from the coating solution. It is recommended to perform a solids concentration analysis after filtering. It is recommended to avoid strong bases.
